"As established by the Psychologists Act, the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology is the regulatory body for Psychologists in the province. The Board determines eligibility for registration as a Psychologist. Registered Psychologists must possess a doctoral, master's or equivalent degree in psychology that is acceptable to the Board from an educational institution approved by the Board and have attained a specified supervised work experience and passed both a written and oral examination before being entered on the Register of Psychologists.

The Board also provides a register of individuals designated as Candidate Register who must possess a doctoral, master's or equivalent degree in psychology that is acceptable to the Board from an educational institution approved by the Board, have paid the prescribed fee and are undergoing a specified supervised work experience. These individuals have not yet met the full requirements of designation as a Registered Psychologist as noted above. Persons on the Candidate Register must designate themselves as Psychologist, Candidate Register.
